"No desire to be a spot-filler" - Multi-time WWE champion with 24-year wrestling career lashes out

A former WWE Superstar commented on his previous career stint in the Stamford-based promotion. The star being discussed is none other than Shelton Benjamin.

The Standard of Excellence made its AEW debut on the fifth-anniversary episode of Dynamite. He has been presented as a huge threat to his opponents since arriving in the Jacksonville-based promotion. So far, he has picked up two dominant wins against Sammy Guevara and Lio Rush.

While Shelton Benjamin is depicted as an unleashed beast on Dynamite, his WWE run wasn't memorable. He wasn't used during his time in the company for most of the time and was featured on TV merely to put other stars over. Although he won several championships in the company, he was never presented as a top star.

While speaking on Busted Open Radio, Shelton Benjamin addressed some rumors about him not being used regularly. He claimed that, unlike the rumors, he didn't like being benched in WWE.

"I think one of the biggest misconceptions, and it keeps coming up, is my desire to just be on the roster. I've even heard bogus stories pop up about me saying, 'I'm happy just to be on the roster. I'm happy just to have a spot. I'm happy to sit in catering.' Every time I hear this stuff, it really irks me," Benjamin said. "I have no desire to be a spot-filler." [H/T - Wrestling Inc.]

Former WWE Superstars wrestled in the first-time ever match on Dynamite

Shelton Benjamin and Swerve Strickland wrestled on Fright Night Dynamite for the first time ever. This match marked the first loss of the 49-year-old star as he couldn't defeat the former AEW World Champion.

After the match, Bobby Lashley made his grand debut in All Elite Wrestling. He, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin attacked Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana to end the show.

It will be interesting to see what will be next for The Hurt Syndicate.
