Paul Wight (fka The Big Show) surprisingly appears outside AEW with a different gimmick

Former WWE World Champion Paul Wight (fka The Big Show) made a surprise appearance on a recent show with a unique gimmick. The character has only been used a couple of times on AEW TV.

The former Big Show made his AEW debut in 2021. He is considered a legend in the industry because of his work in WWE and WCW. Wight has wrestled only a handful of matches since he joined All Elite Wrestling. However, the company has used him in non-wrestling roles such as commentary.

The World's Largest Athlete last appeared on AEW TV at Battle of the Belts 11 as part of the commentary team. At this year's CMA Awards, he showed up as Captain Insano during a live performance by Bailey Zimmerman.

A clip from the performance can be seen below.

Wight appeared as Captain Insano in a music video featuring The Acclaimed on Dynamite in 2022. Last year, the character returned as part of the Boats, Brews, and Brochachos! segment, which also included MJF and Adam Cole.

Top name was the mastermind behind Paul Wight (fka The Big Show) bringing Captain Insano to AEW

AEW star Anthony Bowens recently shared a clip of Paul Wight (fka The Big Show) recreating the Captain Insano scene from The Waterboy on an episode of Dynamite.

In a recent post on X/Twitter, Bowens revealed that Wight bringing his Captain Insano character to AEW was his idea.

"The second @PaulWight signed with AEW, I had the idea to recreate the Captain Insano scene from The Waterboy in one of The Acclaimed’s music videos. We just needed the right opportunity and opponents. It finally came two years ago today and thankfully Paul was completely down for the idea. Thank you to everyone involved."

Only time will tell when fans will see Paul Wight back on AEW TV. He underwent surgery earlier this year and may be gearing up for his potential in-ring return.
