Paul Wight (fka The Big Show) finally makes his return in a major new role, but not under AEW

Paul Wight (fka The Big Show) finally made his return in a major new role, but the interesting thing is that it is not in AEW. Rather, it is in the sister promotion, Ring of Honor.

The former WWE star has not been seen in AEW for a long time, but he recently posted a health update that prompted reactions from the wrestling world. He had his hips and knees replaced and was seen in good spirits.

All Elite President Tony Khan has done a great job in appointing Wight to the Board of Directors for Ring of Honor. After taking the new role, one of his first acts was to make a tag team match. Wight announced that Matt Taven and Mike Bennett would put their ROH World Tag Team titles on the line against Kyle O’Reilly and Tomohiro Ishii at the ROH Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view.

It is great to see the big man make his comeback, and this should hopefully be the start of a prolonged run for him.

Jim Ross thinks WWE made a mistake with Paul Wight

Paul Wight was a big name in WWE, and he wrestled under the name the Big Show. He won many titles and was always in the thick of things.

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has revealed that WWE made a mistake with Wight and said he should have been a rare commodity on television. While speaking on one of his Grilling JR podcast episodes, he said:

"Because he's seven-feet tall and weighed 300-plus pounds, Vince [McMahon] loved the size. I thought all along that we had kind of mismanaged the Big Show. I thought we over-exposed him. He was an Andre the Giant-like commodity that should have been seen less to mean more, but we just went whole-hog on that deal, man... and I thought we over-exposed the attraction. You didn’t see Andre getting overexposed, and that’s how Big Show should've been booked, but he wasn’t."

It certainly has a different perspective on Paul Wight and could have played out in an interesting way.
