Penta El Zero Miedo breaks silence on WWE rumors ahead of AEW contract expiry
Penta El Zero Miedo is the current talk of the town as his contract is about to expire. The star has been with AEW for around five years. He and Rey Fenix wrestle in the Jacksonville-based company as The Lucha Brothers and are former AEW World Tag Team Champions.
Penta is considered one of the best Lucha Libre wrestlers who made a name for himself on the independent circuit and finally got mainstream attention in the Tony Khan-led company. However, the star hasn't been a part of any notable feud in a minute and is booked on secondary shows like Rampage and Collision. His last match on Dynamite happened two months ago.
Some recently released reports suggested the 39-year-old star's contract expires around August and September this year. Also, another report disclosed that WWE has shown signing Penta El Zero Miedo.
While speaking with Lalo Elizarrarás, Penta revealed that the talk of WWE wanting to sing him is a rumor as nobody from the Stamford-based promotion has reached out to him yet. He also said that working with WWE would be a 'good episode' in his career.
“It was only a rumor, never a request to me or my agent. (...) [WWE] would be a good episode in my career but I do not like to fantasy book. If it happens, it happens. I am focused on AEW and I am happy where I am at right now." he said.
Gunther reveals he was bleeding after being chopped by Penta El Zero Miedo
The Ring General and Timothy Thatcher faced Penta and Rey Fenix a few years ago in Germany.
Speaking on Insights with Chris Van Vliet, Gunther revealed he and Penta El Zero Miedo exchanged chops in the match. The former Intercontinental Champion also stated that he started bleeding after receiving a chop from the AEW star.
"I was shocked one time – I remember I wrestled in Germany back then. I was wrestling Pentagon, actually, and I chopped him, and he chopped me once, and I was bleeding right away. It was like, 'What? What is going on?'" he said.
While fans would certainly love to see Penta work for WWE under Triple H's new regime, it remains to be seen what is next for the masked athlete after his contract expires in a couple of months.
