"People are going to flock in to see him" - Bill Apter imagines AEW could get a legend back for a special show (Exclusive)
Bill Apter commented on a legend's future in AEW. He believes the company could get him back for a special show.
Sting is a legend in the wrestling business. After a disappointing run in WWE, he joined AEW in 2020. Upon arriving in Tony Khan's promotion, The Icon formed a successful tag team with Darby Allin.
Together, they went undefeated in the company and even won the AEW World Tag Team Championships earlier this year. However, The Icon decided to call time on his career at AEW Revolution and wrestled one last match against The Young Bucks. He managed to retire with a perfect win/loss record and with the tag titles.
Recently, The Icon revealed that he had signed a new deal with Tony Khan's promotion which led many to speculate about his future. Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine podcast with host Mac Davis, Bill Apter said that Sting loves All Elite Wrestling and could make a special guest appearance for a special show to boost viewership.
"Not at all! Sting loves AEW. He loves them. He loves Darby Allin. He loves working with the veterans there like Chris Jericho and he loves helping the young guys out. He is a billboard name. I mean, AEW presents these great cards and a special guest appearance by Sting, people are going to flock in to see him." [1:02 -1:31]
Bill Apter believes AEW could entice Sting to return with an exciting angle
Sting's return to AEW has been a topic of hot discussion ever since he confirmed that he had signed a new deal with the company. Many people have given their take on it.
During the same podcast episode, Bill Apter pointed out that Sting could be enticed to return for an exciting angle.
"Is he going to wrestle again? I don't think so but you never know. You never know where there is one angle where they need him and he might just work, I don't know, in someone's corner and get involved or he might just agree to one more tag team match or something. You know, wrestling people do this thing, they always say no and then a couple of years later, 'Well, maybe one more time.'" [1:32 - 1:59]
It will be interesting to see whether Sting will make more on-screen appearances for All Elite Wrestling in the future.
