[PHOTO] Danhausen looks almost unrecognizable without makeup amid AEW absence
American professional wrestler Danhausen is one of a kind. While his in-ring ability is undoubtedly impressive, fans believe that his character in AEW is on the next level.
The 33-year-old's gimmick involves him donning a cape and horror-themed face paint. He is signed with AEW but has been absent from the promotion's programs for a while. Nevertheless, he has been wrestling on the independent circuit, most recently facing Kikutaro at the GCW The Sky Is The Limit Pay-Per-View, in Tokyo, Japan.
It is rare to see Danhausen without face paint. However, his wife Lauren Jiles recently posted a photo of him without it. The location in the backdrop is Tokyo City, where he recently performed. Jiles is a Canadian burlesque dancer whose stage name is Lou Lou la Duchesse de Rière. The AEW star is her daughter's stepfather.
Is Danhausen leaving AEW?
The Detroit-born star made his first-ever appearance in the promotion in January 2022. His run in the company has been bittersweet because even though he is immensely popular among fans, he has not been involved in career-changing storylines or feuds. Apart from winning the 2023 Casino Tag Team Battle Royale with Orange Cassidy, he has no major achievements in the promotion.
In May this year, the 33-year-old posted a picture of himself on his Instagram handle with a cryptic message that has led fans to believe that his days in the Tony Khan-led promotion are numbered.
"I answer to none. I belong nowhere. I believe in nothing except myself," his message read.
The former 'Best Friends' associate has won championships such as the BLP Tag Team Championship, FIP Florida Heritage Championship, and OTT No Limits Championship, among others.
It remains to be seen if he will make an All Elite return soon or not.
