[PHOTO] Matt Hardy subtly references iconic WWE set amidst return rumors
Former AEW star Matt Hardy recently posted a picture on social media with an installation similar to an iconic WWE set prop. The North Carolina native has been making appearances for TNA lately.
Over the past decades, the Stamford-based company has crafted several visually stunning stages for its flagship shows, RAW and SmackDown. One of the most popular and memorable among those designs was the SmackDown Fist—a massive metallic structure shaped like a fist that was introduced as part of the Friday night program's entrance set in 2001 and continued to feature on television until 2008.
Wrestling fans have long voiced their wish to see WWE bring back the SmackDown Fist as part of its stage. Interestingly, former United States Champion Matt Hardy recently took to X/Twitter to share a photograph of himself before the Detroit Fist, reminiscent of the iconic SmackDown set. The original prop is in a WWE warehouse.
"Downtown Detroit," said Hardy's tweet.

The Broken One departed from AEW earlier this year after electing not to re-sign with the Tony Khan-led promotion. Hardy—who has recently teased a potential World Wrestling Entertainment return—has competed prolifically on SmackDown and even won the Blue Brand's Tag Team Titles in 2019 along with his brother Jeff Hardy.
WWE veteran Matt Hardy on NXT's Ethan Page
Before his All Elite Wrestling exit, Matt Hardy had worked somewhat closely with Ethan Page. The latter jumped ship to NXT earlier this year and has already enjoyed a short reign with the NXT Championship.
On a recent edition of his podcast, The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the 50-year-old veteran praised Page and confidently claimed that All-Ego will graduate to the Triple H-led promotion's main roster.
"He (Ethan Page) had a good run, you know, he had a great run. He came in and he rose to prominence very quickly and became NXT Champion, and I love the fact that he left AEW on his own [terms]. I do think he is destined for the main roster, sooner rather than later. He’s a solid worker, he can go out there and have a great match with anyone, and he is an entertainer. He gets the entertainment aspect of pro wrestling." [H/T WrestlingINC]
It remains to be seen if Ethan Page will reunite with Matt Hardy at some point in the future if the latter does return to WWE.
