Photo: MJF's first look from blockbuster project outside AEW unveiled
MJF has been a busy bee throughout 2024. The former AEW World Champion recently wrapped up his role in a major Adam Sandler film, and the first official image of his character has been released.
Maxwell Jacob Friedman spent the first half of the year recovering from a torn labrum after his record-setting World Championship reign. His appearances since returning have been sporadic due to outside commitments, the biggest of which was his role in the upcoming Happy Gilmore 2.
Adam Sandler will reprise his role as Happy Gilmore in the highly anticipated sequel, and it seems that MJF has a major part in the film. Jon Alba took to X/Twitter today with a screenshot from Netflix's official trailer for the film, where The Wolf of Wrestling can be seen with Sandler and several other cast members. Check it out:
MJF is training hard ahead of his match against Adam Cole at AEW Worlds End
Now that filming has wrapped on Happy Gilmore 2, MJF seems to be getting back in the groove with AEW. His focus is now firmly on his former best friend, Adam Cole.
Cole and Maxwell came face-to-face on the latest episode of AEW Collision, and a huge brawl broke out. The animosity between the two has reached an all-time high, and it seems that the only way they'll be able to settle their feud is in a match at Worlds End this Saturday.
MJF recently took to Instagram to gloat about a new personal best in the gym. He didn't waste an opportunity to take a shot at his arch-enemy, either:
"New pr. 920. Gee wiz I sure do hope I’ll be able to hang in there at worlds end with Adam Cole. See ya tomorrow night," Friedman wrote.
The two will face off almost one year after Cole betrayed The Wolf of Wrestling at Worlds End 2023. That was a painful night for Friedman, as he lost his AEW World Championship and his best friend. Whether he can finally put that disastrous event behind him remains to be seen.
