PHOTO: Wrestling icon Sting looks almost unrecognizable in meetup with AEW star
AEW legend Sting shared a picture with a former AEW champion during their recent meeting. The star being discussed is Sammy Guevara. Sammy is the current ROH World Tag Team Champion alongside Dustin Rhodes.
The Icon had one of the greatest runs of his career in the Jacksonville-based promotion. He debuted in 2020 and retired earlier this year in March with an unbeaten record of 29-0. He teamed up with Darby Allin for the majority of his run and even won the AEW World Tag Team Championships weeks before hanging up his boots. He retired at Revolution pay-per-view after another successful title defense.
Meanwhile, Sammy Guevara has been trying to find a win in a singles contest on AEW TV since February 2024. He also has been featured on ROH. The Spanish God and Tay Melo had their first child back in November 2023, named Luna. Sammy recently shared a picture of himself and his daughter with the legend.
The ROH World Tag Team Champion shared the picture on X/Twitter, where The Vigilante looked unidentifiable as he hadn't worn his signature facepaint.
"It’s.... LUUUUUUNNNNNNAAAA and Sting," he wrote.
Sting signed a new deal with AEW
The former AEW World Tag Team Champion retired in March 2024 and recently appeared at All In to save his former partner, Darby Allin.
While speaking with Kayfabe Friends, Sting revealed that he had signed a legends deal with the promotion, allowing him to occasionally appear on the show.
“I signed a multi-year deal with AEW, obviously not to wrestle anymore, but it’s like a licensing deal, a legends deal if you want to call it that. So I’ll do appearances with them on and off, depending on what they want and all. I’ve done real estate, I did real estate before I ever was a pro wrestler, so I’ve always loved real estate," he said.
It remains to be seen when the next time fans get to see The Icon in AEW.
