"Pick up the phone HHH," "I can't see this being true" - Fans left stunned after popular AEW star claims to have retired
Fans were left shocked today after a former AEW Women's World Champion revealed that she doesn't plan to return to the promotion. However, many were suspicious that it could just be part of her storyline.
Toni Storm hasn't been seen in All Elite Wrestling since losing her Women's World Championship to Mariah May at All In 2024. The Timeless star has been spiraling down across the wrestling industry, having traveled to Japan and Mexico and lost major matches in both countries.
It's unclear whether Storm will ever return to the promotion, but she alarmed fans with a recent interview. The 29-year-old revealed to SB Nation that it was the last fans would hear from her and that AEW was fine without her:
"I’ve failed at everything. I lost in AEW, I lost in Japan, I lost in Mexico. This is the last you’ll hear from me again. Enjoy Mariah May as your champion. You can all enjoy that — AEW is just fine without me. Everything is going well for AEW. They don’t need Toni Storm."
Fans reacted with surprise and dismay, although many believed it was just Storm being dramatic. Check out some of the reactions below:
Mariah May pitches new stipulation match if former AEW Women's World Champion returns
It seems that 'Timeless' Toni Storm has no intention of returning to All Elite Wrestling, but if she did, Mariah May has a few ideas in store.
May won the Women's World Title from Storm at All In 2024 and has since let her ego run out of control. She doesn't think her rival will ever return to the promotion, but she'd like to have what she calls a "Glamour match" if they ever shared the ring again, as she told the Figure 4 Podcast:
"I have a beautiful face, all these weapons and stuff. It’s not particularly my thing because I don’t want to damage the Glamour. If Toni Storm ever resurrected, I don’t where she even is, and tried to touch me again, I would love to have a match, which means I could hurt her as much as possible. I would love to create some kind of Glamour match. I don’t know what that looks like. When I was on the independent scene, I had a Barbie Dream House Death Match, which was a weapons match, and everything had to be pink. I got disqualified because I used a red brick. That was a lot of fun."
Mariah May recently vanquished Anna Jay and is currently looking for her next challenger. Whether she defends her title at Full Gear this Saturday remains to be seen.
