Popular AEW star demands Tony Khan give her a match against Mercedes Mone
Mercedes Mone is one of the biggest stars in AEW, but her fame has put a massive target on her back. As 2024 draws to a close, The CEO might have gained a new challenger in the form of ROH Women's Television Champion Red Velvet.
Red Velvet captured the ROH Women's Television Title back at Death Before Dishonor in July. She most recently defended the belt against Leyla Hirsch at Final Battle, and she seems to be more confident than ever.
At the ROH Final Battle press conference, POP's Kimmy Sokol asked Velvet who her next challenger might be. Without hesitation, the 32-year-old called out Mercedes Mone and asked Tony Khan to give her a match against the reigning TBS Champion:
"Are we staying in Ring of Honor or can I say anybody? Anybody. TK, give me [Mercedes] Mone. Everybody wants it. Let’s go. Let’s make it happen. Let’s do it. Absolutely. Line them up. You know I always cook, Tony. He knows. Let’s keep cooking. Let’s bring them. I never turn down a challenge. I’m ready for anybody and everyone, so bring them. I’m ready. I’m hungry." [H/T Fightful]
Mercedes Mone doesn't have a challenger for AEW Worlds End
AEW is closing out 2024 with its second annual Worlds End pay-per-view. Last year's edition changed the landscape of the Jacksonville-based promotion, and plenty of high-stakes matches are scheduled for this year's show as well. However, Mercedes Mone is not currently set to take part.
The CEO has been pulling double duty lately, defending both her TBS Championship and NJPW STRONG Women's title. She managed to vanquish her last challenger, Anna Jay, but many more women have called their shot against the champion, including Red Velvet.
Mone has been advertised to speak on tonight's Christmas edition of AEW Collision. It remains to be seen whether she is scheduled for a match at Worlds End on December 28.
