Popular AEW star reveals Vince McMahon got "teary-eyed" after major WrestleMania main event - "He gave me the biggest hug"

A popular AEW star spoke about an emotional moment she shared with former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon after one of her WrestleMania matches. She left the promotion in 2022.

Mercedes Mone was one of the biggest stars in WWE during the women's evolution. She worked at the Stamford-based promotion for a decade and during this time, she was involved in many historic moments.

One of those came at WrestleMania 37 when both Bianca Belair and Mone became the first two women to main event The Show of Shows. The moment made both competitors tear up in the ring but they seemingly weren't the only ones.

During a recent edition of Mone Mag, the AEW star said that Vince McMahon had given her the biggest hug following her historic match and may have even teared up himself. She noted that her former boss told her she deserved to headline WrestleMania.

"It would only make sense to have this week's Moné Memory feature Vince and memorable interactions with Vince post-match. I'm sure everyone has their share but I'll share mine. At the NXT Brooklyn takeover match against Bayley, Vince came up to me and gave me a huge hug, saying how great our match was. But probably, the most memorable best praise I ever received from Vince was after WrestleMania and my main event with Bianca. He gave me the biggest hug, and I honestly think he was teary-eyed. He was so happy with our performance and said that we deserved the main event. It felt incredible inside to hear those words," she said. [H/T Mone Mag]

AEW star Mercedes Mone recalled another incident with Vince McMahon

During her time in World Wrestling Entertainment, AEW star Mercedes Mone faced several of the top stars in the women's division including Nia Jax. During one of her matches with The Irresistible Force, Vince McMahon accidentally asked the referee to ring the bell through his headset which puzzled both participants.

During the same edition of Mone Mag, the AEW TBS Champion recalled confronting Triple H about the incident but was told to go ask McMahon.

"This should probably be a Moné Memory, but while we're on the subject of TV tapings, behind the scenes, and Vince McMahon, I remember one time I had a storyline and match with Nia Jax. During the match, Vince accidentally called over the headset for the referee to ring the bell. And it was way too early. We were confused, but we played along. When I got backstage, I remember going to Triple H and being like, what the hell just happened? Triple H explained it was an accident and, playfully, told me to go and confront Vince. So I did. Vince admitted he was wrong and then shared a laugh about it." [H/T: Mone Mag]

Mercedes Mone is currently one of the biggest stars in AEW and is the reigning TBS Champion.
