Popular star confirms he's in "contact" with Tony Khan for AEW debut

AEW is reportedly close to signing another fan-favorite pro wrestler. After Tony Khan watched this current champion wrestle a key match earlier this year, All Elite Wrestling's interest in two top talents picked up, and new details are being revealed ahead of All In.

Michael Oku is the current Jericho Cruise Oceanic Champion and RevPro Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion. The 31-year-old recently teased a hometown appearance at All In. It was then revealed that Oku and valet Amira Blair are rumored to be at Dynamite and Collision in Cardiff, Wales on August 21, and at the pay-per-view at Wembley Stadium in London on August 25. Michael was rumored to wrestle on one or both shows. The official announcement has not happened, and there's no word on the English wrestler being offered a contract.

The Master of the Half-Crab won a 47-minute match over Will Ospreay back in February, which was The Aerial Assassin's final match before starting full-time with All Elite Wrestling. Tony Khan was in attendance for the bout, and this opened a line of communication between Oku and Khan. The line appears to be still open.

MJF retained his AEW's American Championship against Oku at RevPro's Summer Sizzler event this past Sunday in London, with Ospreay's involvement. Speaking to Stephanie Chase for a new interview, The sever-year industry veteran indicated that he has business in the works with AEW and the rumors of him and his Scottish valet working for All Elite Wrestling.

"I’m trying to find the right way to answer this. I think that’s the most I can confirm is that there’s been contact made, which obviously makes sense. I wrestled Will [Ospreay] earlier in the year in front of Tony Khan, I got to meet Tony Khan, and have a conversation with him there at the venue as it happened. This match happens with MJF, they’ve posted my promo on their channels, they’re promoting this. So, there’s been contact to allow these things to happen with AEW, so there’s been contact of what we can potentially do in the future. I’ll leave it there [laughs]," Michael Oku said. [From 13:58 to 14:44]

Oku appeared at All In 2023 as a security guard during the weigh-in between Miro and Powerhouse Hobbs. He said his ideal scenario this year would be to perform inside Wembley Stadium, perhaps in the Casino Gauntlet.
