Popular star urges Tony Khan to bring Kanye West to AEW after his shocking appearance at recent wrestling show
AEW is known for hosting celebrities and booking dream matches, but a former Tag Team Champion is now hoping for a cameo from Kanye West. The controversial hip-hop artist and entertainment icon shocked fans when he turned up in a wrestling ring in Tokyo yesterday.
AEW's Max Caster discovered today that Kanye West made a surprise performance at yesterday's WangMania event, which was organized by fashion designer Alexander Wang in association with Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling. The event featured several Joshi stars, including Miyu Yamashita, who has performed for All Elite Wrestling in the past.
Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign performed their hit song TALKING at the event. After seeing a clip of it on X, former AEW World Tag Team Champion Max Caster begged Tony Khan to bring West into the Jacksonville-based promotion for a match:
"Acclaimed, Billy Gunn, and Ye vs the Elite. @TonyKhan book this please!"
Caster and his partners Anthony Bowens and Billy Gunn are currently feuding with The Elite. The Acclaimed is set to face The Young Bucks in a Tag Team Championship Eliminator match this Wednesday on Dynamite.
AEW's Max Caster draws inspiration from Kanye West
Much like Kanye West, Max Caster has become a controversial figure lately. The 34-year-old is known for his inflammatory rap verses during The Acclaimed's entrances, and his lyrics have gotten him suspended more than once.
Caster has leaned into the controversy and tends to antagonize fans on social media. In a recent appearance on Isiah Kassidy’s YouTube channel, he revealed that he takes inspiration from the likes of Kanye West and Dave Chappelle:
"A lot of wrestling is based on, can I get people to like me?" said Caster. "If you try too hard and you go out there and you say, ‘Please love me, please love me,’ it’s cool, it’s okay. We can try all the tricks, and here’s a pyro, or here’s some new gear, a flashy look, new song. But I feel like the best artists are the ones who will say something and stand by it. So I’m talking Kanye, Dave Chappelle, these are the guys that are the top of their game. So I take a lot of inspiration from that." [h/t TJR Wrestling]
Max Caster has found success with his persona despite the negative light some fans view him in. The 34-year-old is a former AEW World Tag Team and World Trios Champion, and if he and Bowens are successful against The Young Bucks this Wednesday, he could hoist the gold once again.
