Referee puts AEW star's shoulder down before final pin at WrestleDream leaving WWE veteran baffled
AEW WresteDream Pay-Per-View concluded yesterday in Tacoma, Washington. During one of the matches, the referee made the baffling decision to put an AEW star's shoulder down before the final pin. WWE veteran Jonathan Coachman has reacted to the incident.
AEW WrestleDream 2024 had a stacked card and was headlined by Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley who battled for the AEW World Championship. One of the biggest talking points of the PPV took place during the preshow when Anna Jay faced off against Harley Cameron.
During the conclusion of the match, Anna Jay went for the pinfall on Harley Cameron but her shoulder wasn't completely on the mat. Hence, the referee put her shoulder on the mat and counted the pinfall.
Jonathan Coachman reacted to this incident in shock and stated that the match should've continued for another 30-60 seconds if her shoulder wasn't down on the mat.
"I literally can’t believe what I just watched. He @jimmykorderas have you ever done this. If her shoulder isn’t down match continues. At this level every talent should be able to put together another 30-60 seconds into another finish. @BehindTheBuckle."

In another tweet, Jonathan Coachman said that if any referee had done that back in the day, they would've been fired.
"Brad if @jimmykorderas or any other referee would have done that they probably would have gone out the same door MJF used last night as well. They definitely would not have walked back through the curtain. Lol."
AEW WrestleDream ended in a controversial manner
One of the most highly anticipated matches of WrestleDream was the main event clash between Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson. These two men have been embroiled in a heated feud after Moxley choked out Bryan at All Out 2024.
At WrestleDream, both men competed in a highly competitive match that ended with Mox as the winner meaning Bryan's career as a full-time wrestler was over—but the night turned from bad to worse for The American Dragon as even Wheeler Yuta turned on him, and choked him out with a plastic bag.
Several All Elite stars came out to help Bryan but they were stopped by Jon Moxley and The Blackpool Combat Club. In the end, Danielson had to be carried out on a stretcher. It will be interesting to see what the aftermath of this attack will be on Dynamite next week.
