Returning WWE star imitates AEW's Jon Moxley at major eventĀ
A returning WWE star seems to have drawn from the playbook of AEW's Jon Moxley on a major NXT show. The talent in question is Cora Jade.
The Stamford-based company's developmental brand made its broadcast debut on The CW this week. The show aired from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois, and featured an NXT Women's Championship match between the defending champion, Roxanne Perez, and the challenger, Giulia. The bout was a hard-hitting and intense affair, toward the closing stretch of which a hooded figure assaulted the Dangerous Queen while her opponent, The Prodigy, distracted the referee.
The assailant, who would later reveal herself to be Cora Jade, planted Giulia with a DDT on the floor outside the ring that very much resembled multi-time AEW World Champion Jon Moxley's signature finisher, The Death Rider/Paradigm Shift. The attack allowed Perez to deliver the Pop Rox on Giulia and retain her belt.
Jade had sustained a torn ACL during a WWE live event earlier this year, which had sidelined her for months. Whether the 23-year-old star will pursue her former tag partner for the NXT Women's Championship remains to be seen.
On the other hand, Jon Moxley will clash with his former Blackpool Combat Club ally, AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson, for the latter's title at WrestleDream 2024.
