Rey Fenix shares rare unmasked footage as AEW star reportedly awaits move to WWE
AEW star Rey Fenix is reportedly leaving the promotion and planning to move to WWE. He recently took to Instagram and shared a video where he was seen without his signature mask.
The Lucha Bros. (Rey Fenix & Penta El Zero Miedo) have been a part of AEW since 2019. However, recent reports have hinted at their potential departure from the company in the coming months. The popular tag team wrestlers are seemingly leaning towards inking a deal with WWE, aiming to finish off their careers in the Triple H-led promotion.
On his Instagram Story, Rey Fenix recently shared a video flexing his back after a workout. He wasn't sporting his iconic mask in the footage.
Fans will have to wait and see whether Rey Fenix returns to All Elite Wrestling television before potentially parting ways with the organization. Fenix and Penta's contracts with the company are reportedly nearing their end.
Konnan wants AEW CEO Tony Khan to use The Lucha Bros on their way out
Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix have been absent from AEW television for the past several months. The duo is reportedly frustrated with their creative direction in All Elite Wrestling and will likely sign with WWE after their contracts expire.
On a recent edition of the Keepin' It 100 podcast, Konnan questioned why Penta and Fenix were off television despite being paid by Tony Khan. He then advised Khan to use The Lucha Bros. to put over new talents on their way out of the Jacksonville-based promotion.
"You have no idea how many complaints I hear about that, and I'll give you one good example. Have you seen Pentagon and [Rey] Fenix like in the last month or so? They're still getting paid, bro. If you're gonna pay them that type of money, use them on the way out to put people over." [2:42 - 2:57]
Tony Khan has reportedly refused to grant Rey Fenix his release from All Elite Wrestling. The move has stopped the rumored plans of The Lucha Bros. moving to WWE. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the tandem.
