Ric Flair firmly believes 14-time WWE champion is the "greatest" of all time
WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair believes a 14-time WWE Champion is the greatest wrestler of all time. The star in question is none other than Shawn Michaels.
The Heartbreak Kid currently runs WWE's NXT brand but is widely considered one of the best performers in professional wrestling and is known as Mr. WrestleMania. Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair have known each other for a long time and had arguably one of the greatest matches of WrestleMania in 2008, where Shawn defeated Flair in his retirement match.
On X (formerly known as Twitter), The Nature Boy posted a 33-year-old clip of his match against Shawn Michaels and called HBK the greatest of all time.
"Throwback To 33 Years Ago! Thank You @ShawnMichaels For The Memories, The Matches, And The Opportunities To Perform With You! You’re The Greatest In My Opinion! WOOOOO!"
Ric Flair recalls the anxiety before wrestling Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 24
The Nature Boy faced off against Shawn Michaels in his last WWE match at WrestleMania 24. The match was full of emotions as the two legends gave all they had in front of the Orlando crowd. In an interview with Marc Raimondi of ESPN, the 16-time World Champion opened up about refusing to get drunk before his retirement match against Shawn Michaels.
"So, the night before WrestleMania with Shawn [Michaels], right? Everybody is partying at the Marriott. We were at the Marriott in Orlando, and everybody was there, and I wasn’t drinking. Michael Hayes looked at me and said, ‘What are you doing?’ I said, ‘I’m not drinking. I’m nervous about tomorrow,'" said Flair.
Ric Flair competed multiple times after the memorable clash at WrestleMania 24. He recently parted ways with AEW after being with the company for only a couple of months. It will be interesting to see if the veteran returns to WWE in the future.
