Ricky Starks finally breaks silence on alleged off-script incident with Adam Copeland (fka Edge) in AEW

Ricky Starks and Adam Copeland (fka Edge) have been away from AEW for months. The last time fans saw them on television was on the March 30 edition of Collision and Double or Nothing 2024, respectively.

Copeland and Ricky Starks had a heated promo battle on the October 14, 2023, episode of AEW Collision. The Absolute insulted the WWE Hall of Famer by calling him "bug eyes", while the latter called him a "vanilla midget." Many people believed Starks went off-script while mocking The Rated-R Superstar on the show.

On Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Starks addressed the promo and clarified that it wasn't scripted.

“There was no script. Ricky Starks going off script? How is that possible if there’s no script to begin with? So to speak. I didn’t say anything crazy. I just called someone bug eyes. What’s wrong with that? That’s like, how is that any different than someone calling someone fat? Am I missing the point here?” [H/T: chrisvanvliet.com]

Ricky Starks set to have a match outside AEW soon

Starks hasn't been seen in AEW for the past eight months. He is not injured and is still signed to the company. This has led many to question why Tony Khan has kept him on the sidelines for so long.

The former FTW Champion recently made a surprise appearance at GCW Dream On. Following his appearance, it was announced that Starks would wrestle Matt Cardona at GCW Highest in the Room 3 at the Ukrainian Culture Center, Los Angeles, on December 14.

Since March, Starks has wrestled two matches outside of AEW. The first bout was against QT Marshall at BTW Welcome To Paradise on May 31, and the other was against Kody Lane at Glory Pro WrestlePocalypse on November 24. Meanwhile, Adam Copeland is seemingly recovering from an injury.
