Ricky Starks reveals AEW contract status, why he will soon wrestle outside the company
AEW star Ricky Starks recently revealed his contract status with Tony Khan's company. Starks also opened up on his upcoming match outside the Jacksonville-based promotion.
Ricky Starks has not been on AEW TV since March 2024. It is still not clear why he has been away from TV for quite some time now and whether he is still under contract. Amid his absence from All Elite Wrestling, Starks wrestled QT Marshall on the indie promotion, BTW in May as well.
Meanwhile, The Absolute is set for a match against Cody Lane on Glory Pro Wrestling on November 24th. In a recent interview with Weekend Joe, Starks revealed that he is still under contract with AEW and explained why he is wrestling another match outside Tony Khan's promotion on November 24:
"I can't be stuck at home for too much longer obviously I go stir crazy and I saw an opportunity with Cody Lane to come out and challenge for the title of course and I thought it was even a better idea because I used to actually live in St. Louis. I used to live in Melville of all places. So I thought it was a good way to make a return and also I've known Cody for quite a bit, he used to train here in Texas and I said well why not just come back and test the grit against somebody that I'm very much familiar with." Ricky Starks' last match on AEW TV
Prior to his absence, Ricky Starks competed in his last match on AEW TV back in March 2024. Starks teamed with Big Bill and suffered defeat from Top Flight in a Tag Title tournament on an episode of Collision.
It was later revealed that an audible was called during Starks' last match on Collision in March as he wasn't supposed to be pinned. Only time will tell when The Absolute will make his return on TV.
