Ricky Starks set to face former WWE name outside AEW
Ricky Starks is set to have a match against a former WWE star. The bout will take place outside AEW. His scheduled opponent for the upcoming match is QT Marshall.
Marshall is a former WWE star and worked with the Stamford-based promotion banner for four years (from 2013 to 2017). The last time fans saw him in WWE was on March 29, 2017, when he had a tag team match with Jonathan Ortagun against Otis Dozovic and Tucker Knight. He worked in AEW as an in-ring talent from 2019 to 2023. Marshall now serves as the promotion's Vice President of Show and Creative Coordination.
Ricky Starks posted an update on his Instagram. He put up a story, informing the fans that he will have a match on Friday, March 31, 2024. He is set to fight against QT Marshall at Kirk White's Big Time Wrestling.
Is Ricky Starks getting heat due to his recent visit to a WWE event?
Ricky Starks is very close to Cody Rhodes. The American Nightmare had a big match at WrestleMania XL against Roman Reigns, which he won and became the WWE Undisputed Universal Champion.
Being a good friend of Rhodes, the 34-year-old AEW star was at WrestleMania to show his support. Following the visit, he started appearing less on AEW TV.
This led many fans to believe he was getting heat from Tony Khan for visiting the rival company's show. However, during a FightFul Q&A podcast, Sean Ross Sapp clarified the rumors were false.
Sean reported, “Ricky Starks wants to be on T.V., or at least so he says. I’ve heard no issues of him having heat as a result of being at the Royal Rumble or wherever the hell he was at. Some people were speculating. You’re allowed to visit your friends.”
The former FTW Champion hasn't been on AEW TV for almost two months. His last match was on the March 30 edition of Collision. During the show, he and Big Bill lost the AEW World Tag Team Title Tournament Quarter Finals match to Top Flight (Dante and Darius Martin).
