Ricochet addresses potentially turning heel in AEW

Ricochet made his most-awaited AEW debut at All In last month. The former WWE star has now spoken about the possibility of a heel turn in the company.

After months of speculation, Ricochet finally arrived in AEW at All In 2024 and participated in the Casino Gauntlet Match. Although he didn't win, the following weeks have been promising for the former WWE Intercontinental Champion.

The One and Only confronted Will Ospreay last Saturday at All Out, leading to speculation that two high flyers could compete in the ring once again. During a recent interview on The Babyfaces Podcast, Ricochet was asked about potentially turning heel in AEW. The former WWE star said that he wasn't afraid to get confrontational if needed but there were steps to take to get to that place.

"I think…everybody just kind of is an extension of who they feel they are. So I feel like for me, for example, I’m not afraid to tell somebody to shut up and smack them in their mouth. But at the same time, I feel like there’s steps that we could take before we get there. So the good guy/bad guy, that’s all just within that person. I feel like there aren’t really good guys and bad guys. Is Thanos a bad guy? Some people don’t think so. Is Killmonger a bad guy? Some people don’t think so. So it depends, everyone’s got their story and how they tell it. People can resonate with that. So maybe one of these days, my story will be told differently than how I feel now."

AEW's new signee continued to say that he might feel differently later on but now, it was hard to get to his bad side. He further said that he is the kind of person who could squash his problem with Will Ospreay right now if needed.

"So, I’m not afraid, like Will Ospreay or whomever it is, if we got a problem, we can squash it right now, however you need to squash it. So the good guy/bad guy, it’s just different. It’s all how you are in the moment, and I might feel differently later."

Ricochet is open to NJPW return

Ricochet has competed all over the world during his career, including New Japan Pro-Wrestling, where he won the Best of the Super Juniors Tournament in 2014. The highflyer recently revealed that he is open to making another return.

Speaking on the Battleground Podcast, the former WWE star mentioned that he wouldn't mind participating and winning the G1 Climax tournament.

"Yeah, absolutely. I already won the Best of the Super Juniors, so I feel like now I should upgrade my goals to the G1, for sure. And actually, obviously there's still a lot of things in New Japan that I didn't get to accomplish, that I still plan on accomplishing," he said. [From 10:42 to 11:07]

Zack Sabre Jr. won this year's G1 Climax tournament. It will be interesting to see if Ricochet will return to NJPW next year and participate in the G1 Climax tournament.
