Ricochet clarifies if he's "jealous" of top AEW star; gives update on their relationship
Former WWE star Ricochet recently opened up about his relationship with a top AEW star. The star in question is none other than reigning International Champion Will Ospreay.
The Aerial Assassin and Ricochet have not competed against each other since 2017, as their careers took different directions. The One and Only moved to the WWE in 2018, whereas Will Ospreay dominated the independent scene and signed with AEW last year.
Ricochet became All Elite last month, and fans have since been eager to see the former in-ring rivals collide inside the squared circle.
In a recent chat on the Battleground podcast, the former WWE Intercontinental Champion revealed that he had been in contact with Will Ospreay during his time with the Stamford-based promotion and denied any jealousy in their relationship.
The Future of Flight also clarified that there's no jealousy within the AEW roster.
“I don’t think anybody is jealous of anybody in the wrestling business, really. I mean, I’m sure there are, but again, my core—my people, my circle, the people that I’m around—nobody is jealous of anybody. And again, I’m sure there are egos, and there are people. But as far as we go, we’ve been in contact basically the whole time,” he said.
He continued:
“A lot of the guys over here at AEW, we’ve been in contact the whole time—it never changed. So that kind of helped make the transition a little easier, because we’ve always been in contact. That kind of helped, too.” [H/T: WrestleZone]
Ricochet addresses a potential heel turn in AEW
All Elite Wrestling teased the feud between The One and Only and The Aerial Assassin during a backstage segment at the recent All Out pay-per-view as Ricochet seemingly acted like a heel towards Ospreay.
In a recent chat on The Babyfaces podcast, the former WWE Superstar opened up about his current character direction and hinted at being a tweener in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
"So I’m not afraid; like Will Ospreay or whoever it is, if we got a problem, we can squash it right now; however, you need to squash it. So the good guy/bad guy, it’s just different. It’s all how you are in the moment, and I might feel differently later,'' he said.
It will be interesting to see what the Tony Khan-led creative team has in store for Ricochet in the coming weeks.
