Ricochet opens up about the 'nerve-wracking' pressure Samantha Irvin faced in WWE

AEW star Ricochet recently discussed the times in WWE when Samantha Irvin had to endure a lot of stress. The latter quit the Stamford-based promotion in October 2024.

After debuting in August, The One and Only has become one of the top stars in AEW. He has not been pinned or submitted in a contest and picked up huge wins. He recently returned to NJPW and attacked the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. Ricochet has been showing his true potential in the Jacksonville-based promotion.

Meanwhile, his partner, Samantha Irvin, quit WWE a few days ago for personal reasons. She revealed on social media that she didn't want to limit herself to announcing and wanted to explore more. The WWE announcer also claimed that she didn't like announcing.

While speaking on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Ricochet revealed that Samantha was very nervous at certain times during her WWE stint, particularly while singing national anthems on shows.

"She wants to be a stage performer. It’s hard to say, and it’s funny because a lot of that stuff she was like, I’m so nervous. I don’t even want to do this because it’s so nerve-wracking, especially the national anthem. Singing the national anthem is the hardest song you can sing. Especially just the pressure of singing the national anthem when you’re on a pay-per-view or you’re at Allegiant Stadium, and all the fans are watching. It’s the hardest song to sing, and you gotta pick your breaths properly," he said. [H/T - Chris Van Vliet]

Vince Russo believes Samantha Irvin will manage Ricochet in AEW

Since Samantha Irvin's departure from WWE, fans speculated that she might become AEW-bound. However, she has denied the claims.

While speaking with Sportskeed Wrestling's The Wrestling Outlaws, Vince Russo stated that the former WWE ring announcer is probably going to be a manager of the former United States Champion.

"Bro, I think it's all a work. She talks about wanting to be a manager, and she wanted to be a [General Manager]... bro, can you not see her managing Ricochet at AEW? I could see that in a heartbeat, that's why I think this is one huge work," he said.

It will be interesting to see if the 35-year-old star will be All Elite in the future.
