Ricochet reacts after WWE Superstars seemingly pay tribute to him and top AEW star during recent match
AEW fans continue to buzz over the rumored debut of Ricochet. The free agent made remarks during a WWE NXT Heatwave match on Sunday, and now the internet has proved him right. The multi-time champion then reacted to footage of his famous match with another top All Elite Wrestling star.
Sunday's NXT Heatwave PLE saw Kelani Jordan retain the Women's North American Championship over Sol Ruca. The near-12-minute match included a sequence that appeared to be a tribute to Ricochet and current AEW star, Will Ospreay, based on their 17-minute match in May 2016. That was the Day Two main event of NJPW's Best of the Super Juniors XXIII.
The One And Only took to X (formerly Twitter) and responded to a clip from the match between Ruca and Jordan. He acknowledged how it seemed like a sequence from his and the current AEW International Champion's famous bout from 2016.
"Looks like female version of me vs @WillOspreay hahaha," Ricochet wrote.
Another fan account responded with a top-to-bottom comparison of the Heatwave bout and the 2016 NJPW match. Ricochet then replied with a nod to the two rising NXT superstars.
"This is cool," Ricochet wrote.
The Aerial Assassin and The Future Of Flight have had several singles and tag team matches over the years, and Ospreay may have helped get the ball rolling on Ricochet's rumored AEW talks.
In addition to the aforementioned NJPW match, their second New Japan singles bout took place one year later on Day Two of Best Of The Super Juniors, also as the main event of the night. Ospreay picked up the win in just over 27 minutes.
