Ricochet and top star are suffering in AEW due to one major reason, says veteran
When Ricochet left WWE and was rumored to join AEW, fans predicted that he would have a great run in the Jacksonville-based promotion. But The Future of Flight seemingly hasn't been able to catch a break yet.
The One And Only made his debut in AEW at All In 2024 in London, where he participated in a Casino Gauntlet Match. Though Ricochet was a fan favorite in the match, he couldn't win it. Later, he also got a chance to secure gold in Tony Khan's promotion but failed to capture the International Championship.
Ricochet recently gave an interview to 1035 KISSFM in which he claimed that there would be no AEW without him. Speaking on the latest edition of the Keepin' It 100 OFFICIAL podcast, veteran Disco Inferno reacted to this bold statement.
He said that Ricochet is having a subpar run in AEW, adding that Will Ospreay faced the same issue when The Aerial Assassin came in. Inferno also explained the reason why he thought so.
"First of all, he looks like a million bucks, which he should always do because he's rich. You got money, dress like it, which is what a lot of guys in AEW still haven't figured out. I completely agree with him, okay. However, I think he faced the same issue that Will Ospreay did when he came in,'' he said.
Inferno added:
''It is that like everybody in AEW, a lot of them copy you and Ospreay. So when you showed up and Ospreay showed up, it's like everybody's been doing before you guys got there, and it's like now you're here it isn't really exactly that special anymore in this environment because everybody's been copying you. Because you guys were kind of innovators of this kind of style." [From 2:00 to 2:45]
Ricochet and Will Ospreay get into a heated argument backstage
Last week on Collision, Ricochet and Will Ospreay went head-to-head for the second time in AEW in a Continental Classic Gold League Match. The erstwhile Prince Puma cheated to win the match, and this made The Aerial Assassin very upset.
An angry Ospreay first talked about it with the match referee and then confronted his opponent in the locker room. They had a heated argument and spewed out insults at each other.
It will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the former WWE Superstar in the Jacksonville-based company.
