Roles reversed! AEW star Orange Cassidy interviews the legendary Bill Apter and asks him "great question" (Exclusive)
Orange Cassidy is an AEW Original and a rising star in professional wrestling. The former International Champion recently joined Bill Apter for an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda. Apter, a veteran wrestling journalist who has been part of the business for many decades, was surprised when the All Elite star asked him an interesting question.
Freshly Squeezed has been with All Elite Wrestling since day one. He is a two-time International Champion and widely regarded by many as one of the most popular wrestlers on the AEW roster. Apter has held many roles in the industry since 1970, including photographer and writer. The Bronx native was instrumental in bringing actor-comedian Andy Kaufman together with Jerry Lawler for their legendary program.
Cassidy and Apter recently sat down for an exclusive interview on Sportskeeda's WrestleBinge on YouTube. The 40-year-old AEW star asked Apter about his favorite decade or time in pro wrestling, which he would choose if he had to go back and watch everything all over again. The NWA Hall of Famer recalled the territory days of Jim Crockett Promotions and how they almost became the top promotion in the country.
"Great question. The Jim Crockett territory, absolutely. The storylines, the talent that he had there, The Road Warriors, Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, Nikita Koloff, Magnum TA. I mean it was just, it was a perfect time in pro wrestling... They got very close to becoming the major wrestling company, with all the issues that went on between them and the WWF, at that time, in terms of TV saturation. They were all over the place, and they started running in New York when other companies couldn't run in New York. So, yeah... I miss that, and the Florida territory, the Mid-Atlantic region. I loved traveling in those regions," Bill Apter said. [From 2:40 to 3:53]
Apter was inducted into the NWA Hall of Fame in 2011 but was inducted into the St. Louis Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2015, the Pittsburgh Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2017, and the New England Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2019. Cassidy will return to the ring on this Wednesday's Winter Is Coming Dynamite, teaming with Jay White to face Jon Moxley and PAC.
