News & Rumor Roundup: Ex-AEW star joins WWE, Becky Lynch's future, 3 veterans part ways with Tony Khan
Welcome to the latest edition of the AEW News and Rumor Roundup.
A former AEW wrestler turned up on WWE television last night, leaving fans stunned.
There's a cloud of uncertainty over the immediate future of Becky Lynch as she wrestled the final match under her WWE contract. We have a backstage update on whether an All Elite Wrestling move is on the cards for her.
Meanwhile, three veterans have parted ways with Tony Khan. Continue reading as we dive into the top three stories of the week.
#1. Ethan Page joins WWE
WWE NXT ended on a cliffhanger last night as former AEW star Ethan Page made a shocking debut.
The 34-year-old star ambushed the NXT Champion Trick Williams before the camera stopped rolling. It became apparent that Page was responsible for mysterious attacks on Noam Dar and Oro Mensah.
Ethan Page left All Elite Wrestling earlier this month after the two parties failed to come to the terms of a new agreement. A feud between Williams and Page is imminent at this point.
Interestingly, play-by-play commentator Vic Joseph almost acknowledged AEW during the segment before Booker T cut him off.
#2. Is Becky Lynch heading to AEW?
Becky Lynch has become the talk of the wrestling town this week. At King and Queen of the Ring, she lost her Women's World Championship to Liv Morgan, thanks to Dominik Mysterio for causing an interference.
On the King and Queen of the Ring fallout episode of RAW, Lynch had a rematch against Morgan inside the steel cage. Again, Dirty Dom played an important role in the outcome of the title match.
He opened the cage door for Becky Lynch to escape, a decision questioned by his fellow Judgment Day members. However, Braun Strowman came out to chase off the faction, also sending Dom into the cage door, which accidentally hit Becky Lynch's face. The equation allowed Liv Morgan to escape the cage and retain the title.
With The Man's WWE contract expiring this week, fans have been wondering whether she's All Elite Wrestling bound. And why not? She bid goodbye to the WWE Universe in an emotional moment off the air.
Wade Keller of PWTorch learned from sources that Becky Lynch is taking a hiatus from WWE and has no plans to jump ship to All Elite Wrestling.
#3. Three veterans leave All Elite Wrestling
Ethan Page isn't the only one who left All Elite Wrestling this month. WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry recently announced that he'd not be renewing his deal with the Jacksonville-based promotion.
This marks the end of his three-year run with the promotion, where he served as a backstage analyst and a coach. Similarly, Arn Anderson via his podcast confirmed he would be leaving the company upon contract expiry on May 31.
Last but not least, Bodyslam.Net reported that Jack Hager is no longer associated with All Elite Wrestling as he chose not to re-sign.
The former World Heavyweight Champion was an AEW original, who signed with the company in 2019. Though he failed to reach his potential, Hager was part of some of the memorable moments during his time with the Jericho Appreciation Society.
Now that he is a free agent, it will be interesting to see if he will return to WWE for one last run.
