Sammy Guevara sends a message to WWE legend; seemingly confirms new tag team
Sammy Guevara recently returned to action in Ring of Honor, catching fans by surprise. The Spanish God made the save for WWE legend Dustin Rhodes, and now it seems that the two might team up in the near future.
Guevara was absent for several months after being suspended. He reportedly turned down an opportunity to come back as a heel and once again join forces with Chris Jericho. As a result, Tony Khan has put him to work in ROH, where he might have the chance to connect with the audience.
The Spanish God returned as a babyface last week and defended ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion Dustin Rhodes from an attack by The Dark Order. The Natural took to X/Twitter to thank Guevara, and Sammy responded with a positive message:
"Anytime Dustin. I got your back. Texans stick together 🤘."
Sammy Guevara claims he was stuck in a "vortex"
Shortly after signing with AEW in 2019, Sammy Guevara was named one of the "Four Pillars" of the company, alongside MJF, Darby Allin, and Jack Perry. While his fellow Pillars have become top talents in the Jacksonville-based promotion, Guevara is still finding his way after multiple setbacks.
Sammy has been tied to Chris Jericho for much of his five-year run in All Elite Wrestling and has been shuffled between multiple factions as a result. Guevara has won the TNT Championship three times, but even in the brief periods when he was away from the so-called "Jericho Vortex," he hasn't managed to find a connection with fans.
Sammy Guevara showed up on the most recent episode of AEW Collision and spoke to Dustin Rhodes. He revealed that for the first time in his All Elite career, he's walking his own path:
"For a long, long time, I have been stuck in a vortex, and for the first time in five years, I can be my own man," Guevara said.
Sammy went on to reveal that he wanted to team with Dustin Rhodes in Ring of Honor. Whether the two will be able to find success together remains to be seen.
