Samoa Joe praises major WWE decision - "One of the most brilliant things"

Samoa Joe is one of the most dominant wrestlers of all time. He is currently signed to AEW, where he is a former two-time AEW TNT Champion, and has also held the AEW World Championship once.

The Samoan Submission Machine is best known for his time in TNA Wrestling, Ring of Honor, and WWE. He has won numerous titles in these promotions, however, his time in WWE was particularly riveting. The 45-year-old debuted on the NXT brand in 2015 where he won the NXT Championship thrice and once triumphed in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament alongside Finn Bálor. Joe also had a memorable feud with the "Demon," and defeated him to win the brand's top prize at a live event.

The decision for a major championship to change hands in a live event is not really WWE's way of doing things. Interestingly, Joe believes that the move was creative and clever.

"I thought it was one of the most brilliant things that we did. When you're building a new brand and an imprint like we were in 'NXT,' you know a major thing is we want people to come to our live events. We were running live events around the nation, and if you knew if you showed up to an 'NXT' live event that a world title could change hands, I mean it just makes that event so much more exciting," said Samoa Joe. Samoa Joe called Ring of Honor the best promotion he has ever worked for

Samoa Joe recently appeared on Terrificon and revealed that out of every promotion he has wrestled for, Ring of Honor is his favorite one. The Samoan Submission Machine said:

"If it was really gun against my head for an answer, ROH, but it was only because I was so hands on in everything that was there." [H/T: Inside the Ropes]

Ring of Honor was purchased by Tony Khan in 2022. It currently operates as AEW's sister promotion.
