Shane McMahon to "100%" join AEW amid recent rumors in a surprising role, believes WWE veteran (Exclusive)
A former WWE personality has predicted an unexpected role for Shane McMahon in AEW amid rampant rumors of him potentially joining the company. Vince Russo believes McMahon could join All Elite Wrestling in an ownership role.
Shane O'Mac's secret meeting with Tony Khan a few weeks back created waves on the internet. He was also recently spotted with The Young Bucks, further amplifying the rumors of becoming a part of AEW. Though there's little clarity on whether the two parties are in talks, the wrestling world is already in speculation mode.
On a recent episode of Sportskeeda's Writing with Russo podcast, the former WWE writer explained that he could see Shane McMahon join Tony Khan's promotion as a partial owner of the company. Vince Russo believes Shane will not join the promotion as a mere talent or on-screen manager.
"I can definitely see if it's in some type of an ownership role. Whether it's 20% or whatever it is. I can see Warner Brothers. Discovery wanting that. If Tony Khan was smart, he'd want that. I can not see Shane coming aboard as a fricking talent or a GM or a character. Come on, bro. Is Shane going to go from the heights of those matches he had in WWE to a show where 5000 people are watching? But part owner, interest in the company? That I can 100% see," Vince Russo said. Mercedes Mone wants to see Shane McMahon in AEW
In the recent edition of her Mone Mag magazine, Mercedes Mone discussed the fervent rumors surrounding Shane McMahon's future. The TBS Champion stated she was open to seeing Shane in AEW and added that even the promotion's roster was ready to welcome the WWE legend.
"Seeing Shane's incredible heart and passion for wrestling makes me think he has a lot of unfinished business. It also makes me think is Shane coming to AEW? I'm here for it, and I'm sure our roster is too. Regardless, it just seems like Shane belongs in the wrestling business. I admit if he doesn't come back to wrestling, it will make me sad for him. I know what it's like to be removed from what you love and how sad it made me. I imagine he feels the same way."
With WrestleDream 2024 mere days away, it remains to be seen if Tony Khan will pull off a surprise by having Shane McMahon debut at the event.
