Shane McMahon snubbing WWE to join All Elite Wrestling is possible, according to backstage personality
It was recently revealed that Shane McMahon is no longer under a WWE contract and is a free agent. Following the revelation of this news, rumors started to circulate that The Prodigal Son might join AEW soon.
Backstage Personality Sam Roberts believes that Shane O'Mac might snub WWE and join forces with the Jacksonville-based promotion. While Tony Khan has denied having any conversation with the former WWE star regarding the latter's potential arrival in his company, a big chunk of the wrestling universe is still hopeful of seeing Shane in AEW in the future.
Speaking on his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts stated that the current era is the best time for the 54-year-old to join Tony Khan's company.
"I believe that there have never been any official conversations, you know. Tony Khan has said that they have never talked about it. But if there was ever a time when Shane McMahon... if there was ever an era for Shane McMahon to sign with AEW, now is when it would happen. There's literally nothing that can happen in wrestling right now that you can look at me and say, 'That can never happen. Nothing, nothing!" he said. [1:32:30-1:32:58]
Jim Ross comments on the possibility of Shane McMahon joining AEW
During a recent episode of the Grilling Jr. podcast, WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW commentator Jim Ross discussed the possibility of Shane O'Mac becoming a part of Tony Khan's roster.
"It could happen... Oh, absolutely, it could happen... He's [Shane McMahon] got a great name identity; he's got people who recognize him. So, hell, I don't know. I would say it's a long shot, less than 50/50, that he would reengage in pro wrestling, but I can't say that it's impossible because it isn't. And he's a good guy, and he still loves the business!" he said.
It will be interesting to see if Shane joins All Elite Wrestling in the coming months.
