"She has her own life, I have mine" - Current champion comments on relationship with former WWE star Ronda Rousey

A current champion in Tony Khan's promotion opened up about her relationship and bonding with the former WWE Superstar, Ronda Rousey. The star also went through her history with Rousey.

The current champion in question is the ROH Women's World Champion, Athena (fka Ember Moon). She is currently signed with AEW but has been the face of Tony Khan-owned Ring of Honor for the past few years. Athena also shared the ring with the former WWE and UFC star, Ronda Rousey in November last year.

Athena teamed with Billie Starkz to take on Ronda and Marina Shafir in a tag team match on an ROH episode. During her recent interview with Stephanie Chase, Athena revealed her relationship with Ronda:

"Ronda is a good buddy of mine, you know she is amazing, we don't talk every day--I don't think we have to, she has her own life, I have mine. But I remember like I'll shoot her a text like, 'Hey, how are you, where are you in the world,' that type of thing. She'll be like, 'Hey, I'm good,' you know me and my husband helped her come back for the Royal Rumble match, she flew us out there, she had a ring, we helped her get ready for that."

Athena further revealed how she bonded with Rousey:

"So she's someone that I've always bonded with on a different level, like even when she first started with WWE. [...] We just became buddies, we bonded over video games and nerd culture and stuff like that." [13:20-14:02]
