“She has no reason to come back” - Ex-WWE star shouldn’t come out of retirement for one last run, warns Dutch Mantell
WWE veteran Dutch Mantell spoke about the possibility of a former WWE Superstar joining AEW. The star being discussed is Nikki Bella.
Nikki Bella, a former WWE Divas Champion, was a prominent part of the Divas era along with her twin sister, together known as the Bella Twins. The duo made a name for themselves in a short period of time and worked in the promotion for more than a decade, before leaving in 2019.
The former Divas Champion is under the spotlight as she recently commented about wishing to join AEW, after being inspired by Mercedes Mone's debut. She claimed that she was going to call Tony Khan and commit to AEW.
While speaking on Story Time with Dutch Mantell, the wrestling veteran stated that the 40-year-old star has no reason to come back, unless Tony Khan or Bryan Danielson suggests the same.
"You know making an appearance can be harmful in her other endeavors. You know if she gets back and if she doesn't fulfill the fan's ideas of her, she can actually do harm to her other career, more or less. They would have to train not to embarrass themselves. Because after being away from the ring for three or four years, and I don't think she is actually going to a match (...) I don't think we are seeing her back, I really don't because she has no reason to come back. Unless Tony has a reason she could help on or Bryan Danielson," Dutch said. (01:44 - 02:53)
Tony Khan says he would be interested in signing the former WWE Superstar
In an interview with BattleGround podcast, the AEW President spoke about how much respect he has for Bella Twins and also said that he would be interested in signing her.
"If Nikki Garcia ever wanted to come in to AEW, I would be very interested in that. I think the world of her. I have so much respect for Nicole and Brie,(...) So... I have so much respect for both of them, and if Nikki was interested in coming to AEW, we would love to have her here, any time," Tony Khan said.
It will be interesting to see if the former WWE Superstar really joins AEW as she hasn't been in the ring for a long time now.
