Somebody gave Stephanie Vaquer "good advice" about rejecting AEW for WWE, says legend
A former WCW legend shared his thoughts on the CMLL star, Stephanie Vaquer choosing to sign with WWE over AEW. The legend assumes she got some good advice for her decision.
Stephanie Vaquer gained prominence after her match against Mercedes Mone (fka Sasha Banks) at the recent AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view. She reportedly received offers from both WWE and Tony Khan's promotion aside from the praise from fans. The former CMLL star ended up signing with the Stamford-based promotion.
It has been a topic of discussion why Vaquer chose to sign with WWE and not AEW. Former WCW veteran, Konnan assumed that the 31-year-old star must have gotten some advice which led to her not signing with Tony Khan's promotion. Speaking on Wise Choices with Eric Bischoff, Konnan stated:
"Well, here's the thing, and I don't know how much she [Stephanie Vaquer] followed AEW, I am thinking you don't--you can't get AEW in Mexico I believe. I think you have to like watch it on YouTube, I am thinking somebody gave her very good advice. So let's look at the facts okay?"
Konnan gave examples like Brian Pillman Jr., Ethan Page, and Jade Cargill jumping ship to WWE and doing better than when they were in AEW. Konnan continued:
"Everybody that's been picked up by WWE from AEW it's going way better than it was going in AEW." [6:38 - 8:44]
Shawn Michaels welcomed Stephanie Vaquer to the WWE family
As mentioned earlier, Stephanie Vaquer has officially signed with the WWE and is expected to make her debut on the developmental brand sooner rather than later. The creative head of NXT, Shawn Michaels also welcomed Vaquer with the following message on the 'X' social media platform:
