SPOILER: Mega comeback takes place after 81 days at AEW Dynamite in Hammerstein Ballroom
A massive wrestling veteran returned to AEW Dynamite after being absent for more than two months. He made his comeback at the sold-out Hammerstein Ballroom.
The Jacksonville-based promotion had produced Collision and ROH's Final Battle recently in the iconic Hammerstein Ballroom. The capacity crowd has been hot for both shows. Tonight, Dynamite is being pre-taped at the iconic arena due to the holidays, and the show will air in its normal timeslot on Wednesday.
Taz has been absent from the commentary desk since the October 2 edition of Dynamite after the ECW veteran was attacked in the parking lot ahead of the show. As it turns out, the star was written off TV so that he could have a major knee replacement surgery. His son Hook and the Patriarchy have been feuding for the last few weeks, given that the faction was behind the attack on Taz.
A fan recently tweeted that the former FTW Champion had made his return to the promotion during the AEW Dynamite taping after a successful surgery.
AEW star Taz was in plenty of pain before surgery
The ECW veteran had been trying to postpone the knee replacement surgery but had trouble walking due to knee issues.
While speaking on the Infamous Smoke Show, Taz revealed that he couldn't walk at AEW shows backstage and airports and described the pain as 'brutal'.
"I tried everything…I’m 57, right, so I wanted to wait until I was 65 to get the replacement. I just couldn't wait. It was just brutal. I couldn’t go to work, I couldn’t walk in an arena backstage. I couldn’t walk in airports. You go to make a connection flight, and I got too much pride to get wheeled around. I’m just not gonna do that. Yeah, whatever. I got my own issues, right?" he said.
It will be interesting to see if the former FTW Champion gets involved in the Hook-Christian Cage saga.
