Sting is convinced 31-year-old star will win the AEW World Championship in 2025
Sting retired from active competition at AEW Revolution 2024 after a storybook three-year run. He's now predicting that his former tag team partner, Darby Allin, will claim the promotion's World Championship in 2025, potentially at All In: Texas.
AEW held a press conference today as tickets for All In 2025 went on sale to the general public. The event will be held at Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX, and will be the young company's first stadium show in the United States.
Sting surprised fans at the press conference and addressed next year's big event. The Icon praised Darby Allin and predicted that he would become AEW World Champion in 2025, possibly at All In:
"You [Darby Allin], I’ve always known from day one, you are World Championship caliber," said The Icon. "I knew from the very beginning. Yeah, you had to come up some, and you’ve come up a ton in the last few years. But I knew that you would someday become the World Heavyweight Champion. Sometime in 2025, I am predicting this is the future AEW World Champion right here. Who knows? Maybe you’ll be World Champion at Globe Life [Field], 2025, at All In." [H/T: Sports Illustrated]
Sting reveals he is signed to legends deal with AEW
Despite retiring at Revolution earlier this year, Sting is not finished with All Elite Wrestling. The legend made a surprise return at All In 2024 to save Darby Allin from being set on fire by Jack Perry and The Young Bucks.
At today's press conference, the Stinger confirmed that he will not wrestle again. However, he teased future appearances for the promotion and revealed that he is still signed with AEW:
"I signed a multi-year deal with AEW, obviously not to wrestle anymore, but it’s like a licensing deal, a legends deal if you want to call it that. So I’ll do appearances with them on and off, depending on what they want and all," he said.
AEW stars are getting excited about All In: Texas, with Thunder Rosa even teasing a recreation of Shawn Michaels' iconic WrestleMania 12 entrance at the event. The show will take place on July 12, 2025, and tickets are on sale now.
