Sting's last AEW match dubbed 'one of the greatest of all time'
A former two-time TNT Champion has dubbed Sting’s last AEW match as ‘one of the greatest of all time.' This will be seen as vindication for all the hard work that went into it.
The WWE Hall of Famer had his last match at Revolution pay-per-view, where he teamed up with Darby Allin to successfully defend the AEW Tag Team titles against The Young Bucks. Darby Allin went through a lot in that match, which also included him going through broken glass.
While speaking on AEW Meal & a Match with Renee Paquette and RJ City, Darby Allin shared his thoughts on The Vigilante's retirement match.
“I always tell people like the final match is the most important part of the ending. You know, Sting could have like sh*t the bed on his last match and be like, ‘That was a good career, but that last thing, man, I should have done that different.’ But, like, you can't argue and say Sting’s last match isn't one of the greatest retirement matches of all time.” [14:51 -15:11]
Bill Apter says AEW could tempt Sting to come back for one more match
The WCW legend wrestled his last match in March and has since retired. He did make a brief comeback to help Darby Allin at All In earlier this year.
On Sportskeeda’s The Wrestling Time Machine, Bill Apter said Tony Khan could entice The Icon to make a comeback for one more match.
"Is he going to wrestle again? I don't think so but you never know. You never know where there is one angle where they need him and he might just work, I don't know, in someone's corner and get involved or he might just agree to one more tag team match or something. You know, wrestling people do this thing, they always say no and then a couple of years later, 'Well, maybe one more time.'"
If that happens, it will be interesting to see how it might pass. Another angle with Darby Allin might still be on the cards.
