Jonathan Coachman responds to Mercedes Mone: "Stop complaining about what you didn't get in the WWE" (Exclusive)
WWE veteran Jonathan Coachman has responded to Mercedes Mone after a recent heated exchange. The CEO is the current TBS Women's Champion.
Former WWE RAW commentator Jonathan Coachman recently threw shade at Mercedes Mone for her promo skills and claimed that she was not as good as Britt Baker. Mone fired back at Coach and called him 'old' while explaining that she's used to receiving this type of criticism over the past decade.
In an exclusive chat with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Bill Apter, Jonathan Coachman noted how a great writer can help a wrestler create magic by recalling the character work of The Rock. Coach said that AEW should work on Mercedes Mone's character and advised her to stop complaining about her shortcomings in WWE.
"That's why The Rock was so great back in the day. He had an incredible writer, he stuck with that writer and I was with them for two or three years at the beginning of my career which was enormously valuable for me because when you have a really good writer, man you can make magic. They need to work on her [Mercedes Mone] character and stop complaining about what you didn't get in the WWE and when you're at home, break it down and make it simple. To this day, I still practice in the mirror." [4:23 - 5:12]
WWE veteran Jonathan Coachman also spoke about the recent promos of Mercedes Mone against Britt Baker
Britt Baker and Mercedes Mone have been feuding for the TBS Women's Championship ever since the D.M.D. returned to the promotion at Forbidden Door. The two have had some heated battles against each other on the microphone, building up to their huge title clash at All In.
In the same interview, Bill Apter asked Jonathan Coachman if Britt Baker has brought some improvement in Mercedes Mone's mic work.
"It is but to me, you can't fake charisma, you can't fake being able to be great on the mic. I've been saying this for years, if you can't talk, you can not get over to the top of the mountain." [5:13-5:34]
Britt Baker was recently suspended by AEW after a reported backstage argument with MJF and his girlfriend, Alicia Atout. It will be interesting to see if things cool down till All In on August 25th.
