Strong indication on Kenny Omega's potential AEW return before 2024 ends (Exclusive)
There has been recent speculation on Kenny Omega's potential return date amid his hiatus. He may be targeting a specific date after not being seen with AEW since December last year. This would be ahead of Wrestle Dynasty in January.
The Best Bout Machine has been on hiatus due to a health scare. He has been suffering from Diverticulitis, which was even said to be life-threatening at one point. He made a brief return in May and got into a brief fight with The Elite.
During an exclusive Live Q&A conducted by Joe Lowry, WrestleVotes was asked for any information regarding Kenny Omega. He mentioned how he had been linked to Wrestle Dynasty in January. However, time will only tell whether he is in the right condition to compete. It was also mentioned that Omega could make an appearance before the show.
Interestingly, NJPW has advertised a segment between Omega and Hiroshi Tanahashi ahead of the pay-per-view, which seems to be a reunion of sorts.
"No, the only thing I can say is there is that show; I believe it's January 5th, tied in with New Japan in the Tokyo Dome. I do know that show is of interest to Kenny Omega. Again, it's a health thing, it's a personal thing, if he's able to wrestle I'd imagine he's on that show. Does that mean we don't see him until then? I'm not sure, but that's only three months away, so that could be the projected goal for him," he said. (20:50-21:30)
Kenny Omega has recently undergone training ahead of a possible AEW return
Kenny Omega was spotted in training with Kota Ibushi and Michael Nakazawa in Japan a few days ago.
Ibushi took the opportunity to share pictures of their training sessions on Instagram, revealing that they had wrapped up training already. The Japanese star mentioned that he could be gearing up for an AEW return soon but would also focus on his commitments in Japan.
"The last practice is over! I've been able to push hard this time. I'm ready for AEW, which will be coming soon. I still have to fulfill my promise to Japan! I hope the landscape has changed! Now we just have to do it! Thank you for the flexible contract even though we both belong‼️ Well, there were a few NGs, but basically, I'm grateful when I'm in Japan," wrote Ibushi. It remains to be seen whether this could hint at Omega gearing up for an in-ring return. He is currently recovering after successful surgery and could be nearing a return.
