Swerve Strickland shares an interesting post after rumor about WWE being unhappy with his AEW contract surfaces
Former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland recently signed one of the most talked-about contracts in recent discourse with the Tony Khan-led promotion. Conversations have grown on the topic of his new agreement with the promotion after a recent report suggested WWE's disapproval of the reported nature of the contract.
The star has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past year with his undeniable in-ring work and the intensity of his character. His star-making feud with Hangman Adam Page from 2023 continued to remain one of AEW's most compelling storylines as it developed in the background throughout Swerve's World Championship reign. He became champion after defeating Samoa Joe at Dynasty 2024 earlier this year.
Strickland's title run came to an iconic end last Sunday at AEW All In 2024 with Bryan Danielson emerging victorious in their championship bout and saving his in-ring career.
Days after All In, Swerve Strickland offered a behind-the-scenes view from his time at the event in the form of photographs with a number of the aforementioned figures, along with one featuring CEO Tony Khan, on X/Twitter, with a one-word caption. The star's entrance at All In featured an array of personalities including DJ Whoo Kid, Bun B, Westside Gunn, and Flash Garments, as well as his manager, Prince Nana.
"#teamwork," tweeted Swerve.

It was recently reported that the 33-year-old star had signed an incredibly lucrative new deal with All Elite Wrestling - a contract supposedly so extravagant that sources in WWE have claimed it could be detrimental to the industry, according to a recent report from Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Strickland's success, however, is undoubtedly well-deserved, and all signs indicate that he will continue to be a key player in AEW for years to come.
It was interesting that the post about teamwork has come as the reports about WWE being unhappy with the contract have surfaced. It is no secret that Swerve was displeased with how he was treated in WWE before being released. "Teamwork" could hint at how he is loyal to AEW and those who support him in his career.
What's next for former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland?
A share of the credit for Swerve Strickland's loss to Bryan Danielson last Sunday goes to his arch-rival Adam Page, who unexpectedly appeared at ring-side during the bout. This caused a distraction that cleared the path for The American Dragon to mount a comeback and eventually secure the submission victory.
The former Moghul Embassy leader, however, wasted little time to seek revenge, confronting Page this week on Dynamite. The two men exchanged words in a heated segment that eventually led to the announcement of a Steel Cage match pitting them against each other at All Out 2024 next month.
Considering the bloodbaths that have been some of their previous encounters, it remains to be seen what kind of violence Swerve and The Hangman have in store for viewers of AEW at All Out.
