The Hurt Syndicate set to grow; MVP teases fourth memberĀ
The Hurt Syndicate has been attempting to expand its ranks over the last couple of weeks on AEW programming. The group's manager-apparent, MVP, has now teased a mysterious fourth member who could soon join forces with the former WWE superstars.
The Hurt Syndicate reunited on Fright Night Dynamite following Swerve Strickland's victory over Shelton Benjamin. Afterward, Bobby Lashley made his spectacular debut to join The Gold Standard and MVP in beating down the former AEW World Champion and his manager, Prince Nana, for turning down an alliance with them.
The faction has been busy on its recruitment front beyond Strickland, as in recent weeks, The Franchise Playa has handed his business cards to the likes of Lio Rush, The Acclaimed and former WWE Intercontinental Champion Ricochet. During his appearance alongside his team-mates on Close Up with Renee Paquette, MVP alluded to a fourth Hurt Syndicate member while recalling a past conversation with Bobby Lashley in which he was trying to persuade The All-Mighty of reforming their stable, which they have since done in AEW.
"And for a while, I'd been talking to Bobby, saying, "We have to go do this.." And at that point, Shelton [Benjamin] was already independent, and one piece of the puzzle is there, we're the other two, and we can pick up the fourth. We have to go do this, and we had a number of conversations where I was like, 'Listen, man. We have to go do this,' and fortunately, he came around," MVP said. [3:30 - 3:55]
The Ballin' Superstar refused to provide a definitive answer when Paquette asked who this aforementioned "fourth" could be.
"Oh, you getting ahead of yourself there." [4:02 - 4:04]
The Hurt Syndicate reveals the criteria for joining their group
Later in the same interview, Renee Paquette inquired whether the former Hurt Business members could disclose what qualities they were looking for in a prospective member, given their silence regarding their potential fourth team-mate.
After highlighting the importance of a refined dressing sense, MVP highlighted the following criteria that a star will need to align with him, Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin.
"I think the number one thing is coachability, athletic ability, and the desire to hurt people for money." [4:52 - 5:01]
Last week on Collision, Lio Rush indicated his interest in accepting a place in The Hurt Syndicate and called out Swerve Strickland for a match on Dynamite ahead of the latter's Full Gear 2024 bout against Bobby Lashley.
It remains to be seen whether the faction will make further additions to its numbers in the coming weeks.
