The Young Bucks make a very honest admission following AEW WrestleDream
AEW WrestleDream has passed and The Young Bucks are continuing their record-setting reign as World Tag Team Champions. After avoiding a major upset, Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson praised their challengers today while reflecting. The brothers also offered an interesting teaser for what might be next.
Fans were expecting Private Party to capitalize on their first real pay-per-view championship match by dethroning The Bucks at Saturday's big WrestleDream event. However, the 16-minute contest ended in a flurry of counters, EVP Triggers, and TK Drivers, despite fans chanting for Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy. The AEW originals debuted a new theme song before the bout and received a post-match ovation from fans.
The AEW Executive Vice Presidents took to X (fka Twitter) today responding to the company sharing a clip from Saturday's match. Matt and Nick made an honest admission that their challengers were much better than they remembered and gave major props to Quen and Zay. They also wondered if there was any other tag team left to challenge them. This comes after sources revealed interesting news on Private Party.
"Okay. They’re better than we remembered. Maybe our toughest defense this go around. But, the greatest tag team title run in history must continue. Is there no one else?," The Young Bucks wrote.
WrestleDream marked the fifth two-on-two match between The Bucks and Private Party, going back to House of Glory's High Intensity 8 in August 2019. Matt and Nick lead the series of standard tag bouts at 4-1.
Private Party's only win was the first All Elite Wrestling outing between the two teams, on the October 9, 2019 edition of Dynamite.
AEW to reveal challengers for The Young Bucks
The Young Bucks are moving forward with their record-setting third reign as AEW World Tag Team Champions after retaining over Private Party at WrestleDream. The brothers' current run will hit the six-month mark in a week's time.
Top Flight's Dante Martin and Darius Martin were shown at ringside during the World Tag Team Championship bout at WrestleDream, along with stablemates Leila Grey and Action Andretti.
Stokely Hathaway was also scouting the match, which is interesting due to his recent tag team mission, and the fact that Private Party rejected his offer to be their manager ahead of the pay-per-view on October 12.
AEW is rumored to kick off a new brothers vs. brothers championship feud. The Young Bucks and Top Flight have had four tag team matches since November 2020, and the Martin brothers have just one victory, which came on the January 18, 2023 Dynamite episode.
Private Party earned their WrestleDream shot by winning a recent Triple Threat over Top Flight and House of Black.
