The Young Bucks release an unexpected video message amid AEW absence
AEW's The Young Bucks have revealed when they plan on returning to the ring. Nicholas and Matthew Jackson are currently away from the company's programming.
After losing their AEW World Tag Team Championship to Private Party on Fright Night Dynamite, Nicholas and Matthew Jackson took a hiatus from All Elite Wrestling. The duo revealed that they were going home due to the recent carnage caused by Jon Moxley and The Death Riders.
In a video posted by New Japan Pro-Wrestling on X, The Young Bucks announced that they were coming for the IWGP Tag Team Championship on January 5. The title is currently held by the United Empire's Great-O-Khan and HENARE. The AEW EVPs made it clear that they plan on holding the gold once more before retiring from professional wrestling.
"It's Matthew & Nicholas Jackson, your EVPs, The Young Bucks. The most successful tag team to ever come out of New Japan. The biggest names to ever come out of Bullet Club. New Hall of Fame inductees. I'm exhausted, I'm tired of working from home that's why we've decided to come back to Japan on January 5th. There's one thing that Matthew and Nicholas need to accomplish before we retire, and that is to get the IWGP Heavyweight Title back around our waist one more time. Tokyo, your rich god-fearing uncles are coming back. See you soon."
United Empire is set to defend the IWGP Tag Team Title against the World Tag League winners at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19 on January 4. Fans will have to wait and see whether The Young Bucks cross paths with the tandem at Wrestle Dynasty.
AEW EVPs The Young Bucks are former IWGP Tag Team Champions
The Young Bucks alongside the Bullet Club conquered New Japan Pro-Wrestling before moving to All Elite Wrestling. The duo is considered one of the best tag teams in NJPW history.
At Dominion 6.9 in June 2018, Nicholas and Matthew Jackson defeated Evil and Sanada to become the IWGP Tag Team Champions. They held the title for 113 days before dropping it to Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa (aka Tonga Loa) at Fighting Spirit Unleashed.
Will the United Empire respond to The Young Bucks' challenge? Only time will tell.
