"This is the first time I’ve ever said it out loud" - AEW President Tony Khan confirms talks for a legendary collaboration
Over the years, Tony Khan has licensed several iconic songs for AEW. Even though this is an expensive business move, it has drastically improved fan experience and engagement. Some immensely popular tracks the company has licensed are Walk by Pantera (Rob Van Dam's theme), The Final Countdown by Europe (Bryan Danielson's theme), Where Is My Mind? by Pixies (Orange Cassidy's theme), and more.
A few weeks back, Tony Khan licensed the legendary Guns N’ Roses song ‘November Rain’ for Full Gear 2024. The 42-year-old is reportedly a massive fan of rock music. In a recent interview with the Five Star podcast (Via Fightful), he revealed that the Jacksonville-based company is considering licensing more songs from the historic band.
“I’ve had talks, this is the first time I’ve ever said it out loud so exclusive stuff right here, about maybe doing even more collaborating with Guns N’ Roses in AEW on licensing,” said Khan. [H/T 411 Mania]
It will be interesting to see which other Guns N’ Roses song the businessman will license for his company. Nevertheless, fans will definitely be ecstatic if they are tracks such as Sweet Child O' Mine or Welcome To The Jungle.
Tony Khan on working with Pantera
To license RVD's theme, AEW had to work with Pantera, the band that created the song 'Walk.' According to Khan, who appeared on Battleground Podcast last year, working with the Texas-based band was an amazing experience.
"That's why I wanted to pay the extra and go the extra mile to get 'Walk' by Pantera. Pantera was great and worked with us and we worked out a reasonable deal. I compare music licenses and wrestling to trades in pro sports," said Khan. [H/T Wrestling Inc.]
Tony Khan founded All Elite Wrestling in 2019. The company currently has three TV programs: Rampage, Dynamite, and Collision.
