“This was not fun,” says Beth Phoenix on Adam Copeland’s controversial decision in AEW

Beth Phoenix has once again commented on Adam Copeland's high-risk spot from an AEW pay-per-view earlier this year. The move in question resulted in the WWE Hall of Famer sustaining a foot injury that has put him on the shelf.

Earlier this year, The Rated-R Superstar was embroiled in a feud with the House of Black, which culminated in Copeland challenging Malakai Black to a Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match over his TNT Championship at AEW Double or Nothing 2024. The 50-year-old veteran retained his belt in an extremely violent bout, courtesy of an assist from an old ally.

At one point during the bout, The Ultimate Opportunist attempted to execute an elbow drop on Black from the top of the cage, landing awkwardly on his foot and suffering a fractured tibia in the process. Copeland's wife, WWE legend Beth Phoenix, spoke about her experience of watching the aforementioned spot on her phone during an interview with Chris Van Vliet some time ago.

The Glamazon recently took to her Instagram stories to address Copeland's Steel Cage elbow drop from AEW Double or Nothing 2024 once again. Her caption evidently emphasized the distress she felt for Adam concerning the spot:

"Wife feelings first. Wrassler second. This was not fun."

Phoenix was last seen in the squared circle last year, teaming up with Copeland to defeat Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley at Elimination Chamber 2023.

AEW star Adam Copeland wants to set up a finishing school alongside Beth Phoenix

During the same interview with Chris Van Vliet this August, Beth Phoenix stated that she was no longer under contract with WWE and was open to exploring her options outside the sports entertainment juggernaut. Incidentally, fans had been clamoring for The Glamazon to join her husband, Adam Copeland, formerly known as Edge, in AEW since the latter's debut in the Tony Khan-led promotion last year.

During an interview with AMNY's Dean Moses earlier this month, Copeland was asked about the prospect of teaming up with Phoenix in the Jacksonville-based company. The former World Heavyweight Champion responded by revealing his desire to set up a finishing school for people in the pro-wrestling industry to refine their craft with mentorship from Copeland, Phoenix, and FTR.

"One thing we have talked about is maybe starting a type of finishing school, where, if there are people within the industry that feel like they’re just missing a little something, we’ll come on down to Asheville. Because you got FTR, you got me, and you got Beth Phoenix," Adam Copeland said. [H/T eWrestlingNews]

It remains to be seen whether the 43-year-old star will ever make an appearance in AEW.
