"This might be it for Chris Jericho" - Popular AEW star says the WWE legend could retire soon
A popular AEW star is frustrated with Chris Jericho. He says he could retire the WWE legend soon.
Mark Briscoe and Jericho have been embroiled in a heated rivalry for the past few weeks. This feud turned personal quickly after Jericho invoked the name of Mark's brother Jay Briscoe who passed away in 2023 after being involved in a car accident.
These two men squared off for the ROH World Title at AEW WrestleDream where Mark Briscoe picked up the win. However, this match did little to squash their feud. Briscoe and Jericho will now compete in a ladder war on the 23rd October 2024 episode of AEW Dynamite.
During a recent interview on the Battleground Podcast, Mark Briscoe seemed fed up with the WWE legend and hinted that he was going to retire Jericho:
"All I'm saying is, anybody who would like to see Chris Jericho legitimately get his a** whooped and legitimately, I mean, this might be it for Chris Jericho. He's had a hell of a career. I'm not doubting that. I'm not trying to act like that's not the case whatsoever, and hey, this damn well might be it, man, because I'm tired of it, man. I'm tired of it. Seriously, it ain't funny, man. It's not games, dude. It's not." [H/T Fightful]
Mark Briscoe on Chris Jericho invoking his brother's name
Chris Jericho is known for making things personal during his feuds. Hence, it should not come as any surprise that he tried to use Jay Briscoe's name to get into Mark's head. But he may have gone too far this time.
Speaking on the same podcast, Mark Briscoe said that Jericho bringing up his brother's name will not go down well for the wrestling legend:
"For this man to not have the self-control, or even maybe if he does have that self-control, he voluntarily chooses to continue to bring up my brother's name when I tell him, 'Man, keep my brother's name out your mouth.' You are really going to get yourself hurt. You understand? I hope you're ready for retirement, man. I hope you're prepared for that because this ain't gonna go good for you." [H/T Fightful]
It will be interesting to see if Mark Briscoe will be able to put Jericho behind him after their ladder war match.
