For the past couple of weeks, the rumor of Shane McMahon's possible AEW arrival has been spreading on social media. Many veterans have come out to speak on the issue and share their thoughts on whether they wanted Shane to come to the Jacksonville-based promotion.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws podcast with Dr. Chris, Vince Russo claimed that Vince and Shane McMahon are probably looking to purchase All Elite Wrestling from Tony Khan.
"This isn't to be a performer on the show, this is much, much, much bigger than that and Chris, we have had discussions about Vince [McMahon] taking his billions and billions and billions of dollars in stock and buying another company. We've had those discussions, Chris." [2:00 - 2:21]
He also stated previously in the same podcast:
"Bro, this is not about Shane [McMahon] working for AEW. This is about them buying AEW." [1:17 - 1:37]
Shane McMahon told an OVW talent that he's going to be a jobber for the WWE
Former OVW talent Rico Constantino was a part of the same class of talent as Shelton Benjamin, John Cena, Batista, Randy Orton, and Brock Lesnar. In 2002, the veteran recieved a call from the WWE for an opportunity to compete for the promotion.
Speaking on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast, Constantino revealed that Shane McMahon told him that WWE did not have big plans for him.
"I'm practicing, and then I get a drink of water and stuff, and Shane walks right up to me, looks right at me, and goes, 'You know, Rico, you're gonna be nothing but a flat-backer,' which is a jobber. That's what he said, and I went, 'Oh, okay,' which made me more determined." [0:10 – 0:34]
The majority of the talent from the OVW Class of '02 went on to become one of the greatest superstars in the history of the WWE and have multiple world championships reigns between them.
