TNT Championship match ends controversially at AEW WrestleDream 2024; new challenger seemingly confirmed

AEW WrestleDream 2024 saw the TNT Championship match end in a controversial way. This was expected, as Jack Perry is known to pull out all the stops.

The Scapegoat put his TNT title on the line against Katsuyori Shibata, and it was sure to be a good match. The match started off well, with two men showing off their moves from the get-go. The Japanese star hit Jack Perry with some strong chops that got the fans out of their seats.

That went on for a while until Perry hit back. The AEW TNT Champion hit a knee to his challenger, but he reversed it into a Death Valley Driver. He then went for a sleeper hold, and just when it looked like it was all over for Perry, he had the ring awareness to go for a pin. He retained the title by countering a sleeper into a pin.

After the match, Jack Perry attacked Shibata and got the better of him. Just when it looked like he would hit the Japanese with another blow, Daniel Garcia came out to rescue Shibata.

Seeing the former member of The Jericho Appreciation Society, the AEW TNT Champion sneaked out of the ring and went his way. Garcia could seemingly be the next challenger for The Scapegoat's title.
