Toni Storm receives standing ovation by AEW champion for recent milestone
AEW star Toni Storm received a huge accolade recently for her inimitable work over the past year. A top champion from the Tony Khan-led promotion has now congratulated the 28-year-old star in glowing terms for her recent achievement.
The Timeless found herself at the top of the 2024 edition of PWI's Women's 250 earlier this month - a list that also included other All Elite talents including "forever" ROH Women's World Champion Athena, former TBS Champion Willow Nightingale and the reigning Women's World Champion Mariah May, who defeated Storm for the title at All In 2024.
On a recent edition of her newsletter Moné Mag, Mercedes Moné heaped praise on Toni Storm and congratulated the latter for her achievement, acknowledging the former Outcasts member's character work since 2023 and even claimed to have been a passionate viewer of the latter's performances on weekly television prior to her own All Elite Wrestling arrival.
"I want to give Toni Storm a standing ovation. To see Toni Storm on the cover of PWI was incredible. She has been killing it these past couple of years, transforming into this incredible character. I'm not afraid to admit it, but before I even signed with AEW, the main reason I watched 'AEW Dynamite' every single week was largely to see Toni. Her recognition as #1 in the PWI 250 is SO well deserved," she wrote. [H/T Wrestling Inc]
What AEW stars Mercedes Mone and Toni Storm have been upto
Despite not being inside an All Elite Wrestling ring since August, Toni Storm has been in action in Japan lately, teaming up with former-rival-turned-ally Mina Shirakawa and unsuccessfully challenging Mayu Iwatani for the IWGP Women's Championship in Stardom. She is also set to face off against La Catalina on an upcoming CMLL show on October 18.
Mercedes Moné, on the other hand, successfully defended her TBS Championship in a hard-fought contest against Queen Aminata on this week's episode of AEW Dynamite. It remains to be seen if and when the former WWE Superstars may square off on All Elite Wrestling programming.
